The end of the international break has seen a number of rumours linking Tottenham with Argentine international Ezequiel Lavezzi. The 28 year old is said to have fallen down the pecking order at PSG following the arrival at the club of Edison Cavani and that he could be available in the January transfer window for the relative bargain price of £15m.
Firstly, that may not be the case with some reports suggesting that the player still has a future in French football. Beyond that, there are so many comparisons with Erik Lamela that it seems a pointless quest, assuming there is any substance at all to the rumours.
OK so they’re both Argentinean, both play either on the wing or as a main striker and have similar scoring records at club and international level. Lavezzi is clearly the more experienced man and had he been available prior to Lamela’s arrival he may well have been the better option.
There are differences between their styles of play but with Erik already at the club, does this link really add up or is it more paper talk during a slow international break?
