Spurs make the long trip to Moldova to face league leaders FC Sheriff on Thursday night in the latest round of Europa League matches. The hosts currently lead their domestic competition by four clear points, having lost just once in 12 matches so far but can they provide any sort of challenge to Tottenham tomorrow evening?

Formed in 1997, FC Sheriff are far and away the most successful side in Moldovan football having taken the Divizia Nationala title on no less than 12 occasions. Added to that are seven Moldovan Cup and five Super Cup victories.

European Competition hasn’t been fruitful however although the squad are regular fixtures in the Europa League and Champions League Qualifiers.

This season, the club looks set to add a thirteenth title to its collection and 12 games in, they have amassed 29 points.

Led by Veaceslav Rusnac, players to look out for Brazilian midfielders Jhulliam and Cadu who have scored 13 times between them but curiously their top scorer so far is defender Henrique Luvannor – another Brazilian who has 11 strikes from just eight games.

The comparative strengths of the two teams suggest Spurs should win comfortably and we are short odds on favourites at 4/11 with Bet365 to do so. But there are one or two Brazilians that the side will have to keep a close watch on.
