Head coach Andre Villas-Boas continues to put out a strong side in the Europa League while resting key players and the ones to definitely miss out this evening are Andros Townsend, Paulinho and Kyle Walker.
“The squad has responded well to rotation,” said Andre.
“We have left three players at home – Andros, Kyle Walker and Paulinho – but we have still brought a very strong squad.”
“The players will embrace this game with that motivation and they have been excellent so far in this competition,” he concluded.
Etienne Capoue, Danny Rose and Younes Kaboul will also miss out through injury so the back five may well pick itself.
Further up the field there is talk of Emmanuel Adebayor making his first appearance of the season but will AVB use a 4-4-2 to accommodate him? Behind the front one or possibly two there are almost endless permutations with Lewis Holtby, Nacher Chadli, Aaron Lennon, Erik Lamela, Sandro and Christian Eriksen among those battling for a starting slot.
Here are our thoughts but what’s your view?
Looks about right
I would be of the same team but switch Lennon and Lamela as Lamela plays better on the right than the left .
…but Lennon plays better on the right too….?
I would like to see Defoe up front and maybe bring Ade on later, I would also like to see Holtby start maybe in place of Dembele. Spurs have a lot of strength in all positions and I feel whichever team is put out will give a good account of themselves.
I personally would like to see Ade. Because, unlike Defoe, I can see the possibility of Ade playing behind Soldado as a future option. Can’t do that until he proves his fitness and hunger.
^Exactly my thoughts.
And this line up looks fine
Looks about right that team. I would like ti see holtby in the same team as eriksen I’ve read that Avb and holby see him as a number 6 or 8 playing along side sandro, he offers better passing and a goal treat that dembele doesn’t IMO
Lloris
Naughton Dawson Chiriches Fryers
Dembele Holtby
Lennon Lamela Chadli
Defoe
Adebayor and Eriksen to come off the bench.
I want Sandro and Eriksen saved for the weekend, with Lamela off the striker.
Brad
Naughton Dawson Chiriches Fryers
Dembele Holtby
Lennon Lamela Chadli
Adebayor
agree with this team. Defoe will start with Ade being put in the shop window late on. Erikson will start because Holts started weekend. Be good to see Lennon play the full game.
FC Sheriff – Friedel; Naughton, Dawson, Chiriches, Fryers; Dembele, Holtby; Lennon, Lamela, Chadli; Defoe.
Hull City – Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose; Paulinho, Sandro; Townsend, Eriksen, Sigurdsson; Soldado.
Defoe needs game time so i would put him in.
I had the same team as you guys but was thinking of dropping Demble and playing Adebayor and Defoe up front together. Would be interesting to play a 4 4 2 again and see how we adapt.
Defoe will be delighted to be third choice striker!
Sherriff….Lloris Naughton Kaboul Chiriches Fryers Holtby Dembele Lennon Lamela Chadli Defoe
Hull….Lloris Walker Dawson Chiriches Vertonghen Paulinho Sandro Lamela Eriksen Townsend Soldado
We are going to need Capoue and Rose to get fit fast… Who do you save for the weekend and still field a properly balanced squad? And the back 5 do pick themselves… Jan should be saved for LB against Hull.
Friedel
Naughts – Daws – Vlad – Zeki
Dembele – Holtby
Lamela – Eriksen – Chadli
Defoe
Bench — Jan, Lloris, Sandro, Siggy, Ade, Lennon, ‘Arry Kane
Lloris
Naughton Daws Chiriches Fryers
Sandro Holtby
Lennon Lamela Chadli
Defoe
Ade for Defoe last 30
Dembele & Eriksen to stretch their legs last 20-15.
Friedel;
Stewart, Dawson, Chiriches, Zeki;
Sandro, Dembele;
Lennon, Eriksen, Lamela;
Defoe
Adebayor in for Defoe, give him 45 minutes to prove,
Holtby in for Eriksen, to save him for Hull,
Chadli in for Lennon, Chadli left, Lamela right.
I think your right
