Spurs take on FC Sheriff in just a few hours in a match that could seal qualification into the next phase of the Europa League at the earliest possible stage. We looked at the Moldovan Champions yesterday and while they are the strongest side domestically, everyone is predicting a comfortable passage for Tottenham tonight.

However, Sheriff’s manager Veaceslav Rusnac promises that we won’t be getting an easy ride.

“Everyone is looking forward to the game, including our players, coaching staff and management,” Rusnac said.

“We play against one of the best teams in Europe, who occupy a leading position in one of the best championships in Europe.

“We understand that they are a team of a high European level and we understand that they are favourites not only in our group but in the whole tournament. Nevertheless, we are going to fight tomorrow. We prepared very seriously for this game.

“For every player of our team, it is a big opportunity to show just what we can do. Tomorrow, we are positive that all of our players will do their best to achieve a good result for us. We respect our opponents, but we have no fear and will fight tomorrow.”

Spurs will make a number of changes to their line up but one man fairly certain of a starting role is Vlad Chiriches who made his first Premiership start for the club against Aston Villa on Sunday. The Romanian defender is quite possibly the only member of the squad to have run into these opponents in the past.

“I think it will be a good game for us on Thursday, and I think we can win the match and finish first in the group,” Vlad said.

“I have played against Sheriff before, although it was just in a friendly. They are a decent team so we will have to be strong.”

So countdown to kick off is well underway – what are your predictions?
