We’ve already seen Tim Sherwood’s influence as far as promoting youth is concerned with Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Fredericks coming into the Premier League squad and Harry Kane trusted with a difficult few minutes at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

In his previous role as technical director, Tim would have known these players well and the calm performances of 19 year old Bentaleb in particular have been a revelation. Moving on into January and the appointment of our new Head Coach could also be positive news for Tom Carroll with claims that the England Under 21 International could be recalled from his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers this month.

With so many new arrivals in the summer, the last thing we might have expected was an injury crisis in midfield but ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Arsenal, Sherwood has issues with Sandro, Pauilinho, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andros Townsend. We still retain a big enough squad to cope so if there is any truth in the story, it will be down to the coach wanting Carroll back in the Spurs’ set up.

Whatever your opinion of Andre Villas-Boas might have been, it is pretty much certain that the likes of Bentaleb, Kane and Fredericks will get more of a chance under the new regime. But could this be a real turning point in the Tottenham career of Tom Carroll?

  1. Tom Carroll is a future star! His vision, creativity and passing ability are tremendous at such a young age! If he could get more experience in the premier league and bulk up we could see a talent only matched by Modric if not better than Modric!
