It’s not unusual to Spurs to fail with a last minute bid during January and the usual issue is that the clock simply runs down on them. In 2013 it was Joao Moutinho (sadly) in 2011 Charlie Adam (thankfully) while the papers now claim that a last ditch attempt to offload Etienne Capoue couldn’t beat the clock.

It was proposed that Capoue would make his way to Marseille but as part of the deal, midfielder Florian Thauvin would come the other way. Thauvin is 21 and only joined the French club in September last year but rumours were that he was surplus to requirements.

A scoring ratio five goals from 13 games from an attacking midfielder might suggest otherwise and that this is all another batch of paper talk. Thauvin for Capoue seems like a tasty deal from our point of view but is there any chance of it being resurrected in the summer?

  1. We should stop talking about transfers and just focus on developing our current players, their mentality and confidence against the best sides. Buying and selling we’ve had enough of for now.

  2. Who knows what will happen in the summer depending on the eventual outcome of this season. However if Sherwood is to be the man going into next season, then maybe he could look at some cheaper English players that could be available. He seems to be keen to bring young and ideally English player through (which is why i go with this, personally i don’t care where they are from), we already have the likes of Carroll, but Jack Rodwell needs to get out of City, Scott Sinclair too. Ravel Morrison would be a consideration and could see these guys as the type of player Sherwood would look at.

  3. Glad we kept Capoue he has looked promising and should play in place of Bentaleb against attacking teams. Also it’s a nice change to have a window with no big changes. Maybe our new players will settle in and start playing to their potential.

  4. agree with the above need to focus on what we have what has happened to lamela that is a player tim should nourish love to see him behind ade worth a shot maybe come on spurs nice win against everloan would be nice
