Our title for this piece could have easily read – Our team to face Benfica, who knows? – while some of you will certainly be saying Who Cares? Our four senior central defenders are all ruled out for different reasons so it’s almost a case of putting some names into a hat.

Along with the missing Chiriches, Dawson, Vertonghen and Kaboul, Emmanuel Adebayor, Paulinho, Erik Lamela, Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Etienne Capoue are also ruled out.

The questions start in goal where Hugo Lloris has stayed behind. If Tim Sherwood retains hope of winning the game then he’ll start with Brad Friedel but later on there may be a chance to give Jordan Archer a run out.

At the back, Zeki Fryers, Sandro, Kyle Naughton, Danny Rose and Serbian under 19 International Milos Veljkovic are in the running to cover for the absences. In midfield the problems aren’t so acute while up front, Roberto Soldado will deputise for Adebayor and may or may not be joined by Harry Kane.

It’s anyone’s guess so here’s ours but what’s your view?

  1. It would have to be an incredibly make-shift defense and midfield of

    Friedel
    Naughton – Fryers – Sandro – Rose
    Lennon – Bentaleb – Eriksen – Siggy – Townsend
    Soldado

Got to go for it, and got to play two wingers that will cross the ball if Soldado’s upfront.

  2. Counting down the games now till the end of the season – CAN WE HAVE OUR TOTTENHAM BACK PLEASE?? I like Sherwood, but he’s not the right man, has no top level experience so I hope Spurs retain him, but not as boss!! Also, when are they going to get rid of this bloody Head Coach/Director of Football structure??? Get in a proper football manager, with top level experience who’s actually won something before! Forget the likes of Pocchettino/Laudrup, we need a Van Gaal or even a Benitez!!

For what it’s worth, my team for tonight would be:
Friedel, Naughton, Sandro, Veljkovic, Fryers, Townsend, Bentaleb, Eriksen, Chadli, Soldado, Kane
