Spurs have been linked today with a summer bid for FC Nurnberg’s Swiss International striker Josip Drmić and as a potential third / fourth centre forward, the 21 year old looks as if he might fit the bill.

Drmic began his career in Switzerland with FC Zurich, making his debut at the age of just 17. His record of 18 goals in 62 games wasn’t exactly a spectacular one but the player’s career has really taken off since switching to the Bundesliga. There, Drmic averages better than a goal every other game for Nurnberg and the striker is likely to be highly sought after when the transfer window reopens.

Drmic has also been recognised by the Swiss national side – scoring twice in five matches – but he is close to taking the award in the Bundesliga’s version of the Golden Boot and if he were to take that accolade from current leader Mario Mandzukic then Tottenham may well be priced out of the market. A solid set of performances for Switzerland in the World Cup would also increase the bidding.

For now, this seems a relatively isolated story but Spurs will be linked with worse strikers that Josip Drmic between now and the end of August.
