With little sign of Erik Lamela over the last few weeks and no opportunity for further sub-par performances on the pitch, the press have laid off our record signing but as the season starts to draw to a close, the rumours of an early departure are circulating once again.
A handful of Serie A clubs have been mentioned while one report goes on to claim that Atletico Madrid have already spoken to the player’s representatives in relation to a move. With just six games to go in our own, forgettable campaign, it’s looking less likely that the Argentinian will return to the pitch after a long term, and some would say mysterious back injury.
Meanwhile, the player’s brother Brian Lamela suggested on Twitter than the midfielder would stay at White Hart Lane to fight for his place. Who knows where this will lead but the only certainty is that the rumours will gather intensity in the coming weeks and months.
