Louis van Gaal continues to be cited as the man most likely to take over from Tim Sherwood at Spurs but if the Netherlands coach somehow doesn’t arrive at White Hart Lane after this summer’s World Cup, Ajax boss Frank de Boer is another to be strongly linked with the job.

Naturally that means virtually every player mentioned in connection with a transfer to Tottenham is currently Dutch or at least playing their football in the Netherlands right now. We’ve also been guilty of that by suggesting that either man could bring the Ajax pair of Daley Blind and Davy Klaasen along with them but then some of these links are more plausible than others.

The latest name to appear is that of Daryl Janmaat who is actually a right back – a position that has been tied up by Kyle Walker for the last three years. Three successive managers have entrusted Walker on the right side of defence and he’s been essentially unchallenged making this an interesting link.

Janmaat is 24 and currently plays for Feyenoord and in 2013, he won ten international caps under Van Gaal. This could just be another case of link the Dutchman but it would be good to finally get some quality competition for Kyle Walker’s position.

  1. Seeing as Kyle Walker is better at running than he is at football, I’d suggest it will be he who provides the competition fo Janmaat’s place.
