Who knows what’s going through Sandro’s head as he continues to be ignored by current head coach Tim Sherwood? All we can hope is that the Brazilian, like the rest of us, is biding his time until the current manager is replaced in the summer.

Over the weekend, reports of a transfer to Serie A side Roma began to emerge and while they may just prove to be a rehash of a previous report, it does expose the danger of not fielding your best players. Admittedly, Sandro has experienced more than his fair share of injury problems but he is too good to be left out and his absence exposes a soft midfield – one that Fulham’s Steve Sidwell underlined better than most.

Sandro will be as interested as anyone to see what happens at the club after the World Cup but only a change of coach is likely to keep the fans’ favourite at White Hart Lane.
