Yesterday we looked at 5 loan players who will be returning to the Tottenham squad next season and among them was our 22 year old midfielder Tom Carroll. There wasn’t much response to the piece but in general it does seem that many Spurs fans hope that Mauricio Pochettino gives the England Under 21 international a chance in the first team next year.

Carroll’s loan club QPR came up at the end of the play offs so another stint at Loftus Road could be an option but the player is adamant he wants his chance at White Hart Lane.

“Being at Rangers has been a positive, and to go up at the end was the icing on the cake. But no player would just want to sit on the bench or in the stands. Everyone wants to play. I’ll be back at Spurs and hopefully I can do it there. If not, then we’ll see,” he said.

Tom made 26 appearances for Rangers but received mixed feedback and didn’t feature in their play off ties. The next step in his career is to see if he can thrive in the Premiership and hopefully Pochettino will give him that chance.

  1. Hes not good enough im afraid….even qpr fans said he wasnt a great player!!!! Siggy n holtby are better and their in our reserves. Coys

  2. Hi Spurs fans watched all the home matches that Tom played and was not sure if he had enough quality. Seemed to play better with Joey Barton playing . Prefered the easy pass but intelligent in his reading of the game. Didn’t very often shoot or take set pieces Niko kranjar or Barton were preferred and Carroll wàs left isolated. Not afraid to tackle and track back. Although Harry left him out in the playoffs
