While Spurs fans were generally happy with the team’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the weekend, one man stood alone as a magnet for criticism. Emmanuel Adebayor’s hairstyle was the most outstanding aspect of his performance at the Emirates and his display led immediately to links with a host of strikers across Europe.

The centre forward hasn’t come close to replicating the kind of form shown when brought back into the side by Tim Sherwood last season but while the Togolese is under fire, he certainly seems to have the backing of his manager.

“I believe in Emmanuel Adebayor. We know always that striker maybe suffer some periods where it is difficult to score, but he made a lot of effort for the team,” Mauricio said.

“The more important thing is we are convinced that he, or another teammate, can still arrive at the possibility to score. So I am happy with his performance.

“He knows he needs to score for himself because a striker always lives to score. But as far as I am concerned, I believe in him and have no problem.”

The same supporters that criticised Ade have been calling for Roberto Soldado to replace him but do you think that’s a logical move or indeed one that the Head Coach will follow through?
