With Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado possibly heading for the exit door at White Hart Lane this summer it’s probable that Spurs will enter the transfer market this summer to add at least one striker to their ranks.

According to reports from Italy the Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza could be that man. It’s been claimed that his agent is set to meet in London with Tottenham officials to thrash out a deal.

This could all be a ruse to get Juventus to make a move. The Serie A champions were once the joint owners of Zaza and have a buy-out clause of €15m to purchase the striker this summer, rising to €18m in 2016. If they think that Spurs or other clubs are sniffing around, it could be just the motivation Juve need to bite the bullet.

That’s not to say that Tottenham’s interest isn’t real. They’ve long been linked with a bid for the Italian international but it would only be natural for Zaza to prefer a move to the biggest club in his home country than a transfer abroad. Spurs could have a battle on their hands to land this player.

If they get their man they’ll secure a forward with the physical capabilities to play in the Premier League, who at 23 has the scope to improve. Zaza has scored nine goals this season, which isn’t a bad total for a struggling side.

Here’s Zaza in action. Does he look like the sort of striker Tottenham need in the summer?
