The Sunday papers are widely reporting that Spurs are set to make a £15m move for Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion.

Berahino scored 20 goals in 45 games for the Baggies last season and has an impressive record for the England U21 side of ten goals in 11 appearances. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news.

  1. Yes please make perfect sense he’s Young hungry premier league proven and would be a perfect partner for Kane we would at least have to pay 10 million more than suggested above tho

  2. Berahino for maybe 16m plus Lennon.
    James McCarthy for 20m
Hakan Calhanoglou for whatever it takes (25 to 30m?) Can play any of the 3 roles behind the striker, is creative, 2 footed, a game changer and we currently have no-one who can cover Eriksen injury, and can sometimes struggle when Eriksen is marked out of games

Then we have a team. We’ve already cleared loads off the wage bill with Naughton, Holtby, Kaboul, Paulinho, Capoue, and Stambouli gone or about to go.

Soldado, Adebayor, Chiriches about to go.

We have players like Alex Pritchard (natural goalscorer) and Tom Carroll (good passer if he can up his intensity in a passing defensive role) busting to get into the team.

Then we’ve players like Chadli, Lamela, Eriksen, Bentaleb and Mason who can only improve. Think Chadli and Lamela could be decisive for us this season if avoiding injuries, and continuing their improvement.

I hope we can keep Lloris and Dembele by the end of this transfer window and that Harry Kane can continue his fine form.

Its worrying to see the improvements made by Man U and Liverpool but I think Liverpool have lost 3 of their best players in the last 2 seasons and think they will remain in transition for another season. We could have a good one, as the vast majority of our team is already in place.

  3. I believe Berahino is the perfect player to sign. Can either compliment Kane or replace him. However won’t hold my breath as believe that we will do 1of the following:
    – Not buy a striker.
    – Buy an unknown player from the lower divisions of the English League.
    – Buy an unproven foreigner from another League which will turn out to be a flop like Soldadud.

Would love Levy to prove me wrong ,but fear that we will remain a Mickey Mouse Club forever in the shade of the Woolwich Wanderers.Look at Man Utd and Liverpool; will be out of sight.Doing their summer shopping early and will be out of sight next season whilst we will lag behind. At Tottenham, things never change.
