Spurs scored a deserved opener through Eric Dier after 20 minutes at White Hart Lane against Stoke City.

Christian Eriksen had tested Jack Butland twice early on, and it was his corner that resulted in the first goal. Eric Dier rose highest, the ball seemingly hitting the back of his head and finding it’s way into the back of the net.

Dier had unexpectedly kept his place in central midfield with Nabil Bentaleb dropped to the bench; Ryan Mason replaced the Algerian.
