Reports claim that Spurs have opened talks with Crystal Palace to sign Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha is said to be keen on the move and has asked to leave Palace. The 23-year old is rated at £15m.

It’s not yet known if Tottenham want this player as well as Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, or if they see Zaha as an alternative.

Fans have been split on social media as to whether Zaha would make a good signing. The England international flopped when he left Crystal Palace for Manchester United and swiftly returned to Selhurst Park on loan, before signing a permanent deal in February 2015.

Yet Zaha was unfortunate to be the last player to be signed by Alex Ferguson, just before the legendary Manchester United boss left the club. He never got to play for the manager who signed him and failed to impress Fergie’s replacement David Moyes.

It wasn’t so long ago that Zaha was rated as one of the most exciting young talents in the country. He’s young enough to still improve and under Mauricio Pochettino that’s a possibility, with the likes of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele having been transformed by the Argentine.

So is Zaha worth a chance, or would history repeat himself if he stepped back up to the big time? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. Zaha is very good – a top player I’ve always thought. People who say Andros Townsend is better are just plain crazy. It’s a great thinking-out-of-the-box move by Spurs and I believe Zaha will thrive under Pochettino.

  2. He gets the ball and can move busily with it, but very often not much useful gets done with the ball after that. I associate him with pointless shots from distance and shots off target. Isn’t he someone who has his hair cut every day? And if that is the case, does anyone here know why he does that? I’m not impressed by Zaha at all.

  3. Zaha would definitely improve under Pochetino’s wing, maybe even enough to make the first team. The depth he would add would make him worth the money and if he really blossomed, well, 15 mil sounds like as real bargain.

  4. Total waste of time. Pardew hates Spurs with a passion, will always make it difficult for Spurs usually demanding crazy money. Spurs don’t need another roller coaster transfer deadline day where we end missing out on good players because too much time is spent on Zaha. He is ok player but l think would improve under Poch.

  5. Good age might be worth a punt. Gives us options off the bench. He doesn’t score as much as Chadli so it’s a strange one for me.

  6. Cant cross , cant shoot , lack of goals , and generally no end product… A player we could well do without.. Rather we give marcus Edwards his chance to shine in first team..
