We are huge fans of Danny Rose here at TottenhamBlog, but even we would think twice of lauding his performance against Stoke City -mainly because he didn’t play.

With Rose out injured, Ben Davies replaced him in the team that beat Stoke 4-0 on Saturday, but that didn’t stop The Metro from naming the England left-back in their team of the week.

While there is an argument that Rose is now such a good left-back that he is the best in the Premier League, even on afternoons when he is sat at home watching Jeff Stelling, we think that Davies’ performance should have possibly been acknowledged instead.

So too did the good folk at the Metro once they realised that they’d picked a best XI that made Garth Crooks’ efforts look sensible.

They have now amended their selection to include Davies instead of Rose. That’s a shame, because until they got their finger out and admitted their mistake, Rose was on course to be voted as the best player of the weekend.

Better luck next week Danny – irrespective of whether you play or not.
