Last week Tottenham were rumoured to be interested in taking Luke Shaw from Manchester United. The left-back is reportedly struggling to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans.

And now it seems Spurs are pursuing yet another Manchester United player — Anthony Martial.

Before Martial joined the Red Devils in the summer of 20115, Tottenham were heavily linked with the Frenchman. But he eventually moved to Manchester for huge money and big wages, suggesting a move to White Hart Lane was never really on the cards.

But now The Mirror are reporting the 21-year-old could join Spurs this summer.

Manchester United fans seem keen for Martial to remain at Old Trafford, but the forward appears to be struggling to cement his place in United’s starting eleven.

That task might become even harder if Mourinho pursues Antoine Griezmann this summer, as he is expected to.

If Martial does join Tottenham, he is likely be used as an inside forward cutting in from the left, similar to the position Heung-Min Son currently takes up.

Alternatively, Martial could partner Harry Kane up front, or even play as a lone striker to give Kane a break.

The deal makes sense in that regard, but financially it could be difficult if Martial is already earning upwards of £100,000-a-week. He would probably expect a similar weekly wage at Spurs, which might not be feasible.
