Moussa Sissoko is set to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan, according to reports in Turkey.

Last week we relayed reports suggesting Everton are keen on signing Sissoko on loan, as are several other English clubs.

Sissoko very nearly joined Everton before Tottenham swooped right at the end of last year’s summer transfer window.

Spurs paid Newcastle United £30 million for the Frenchman, who endured a difficult first season at White Hart Lane.

The 27-year-old rarely started and was often only used as a late substitute, leading to rumours of a lukewarm relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Sissoko is expected to leave Spurs in the coming weeks. Marseille have been touted as a possible destination.

But Turkish outlet Gunebakis claims Trabzonspor are close to agreeing a loan move for the midfielder, with a “happy end” to the deal expected to happen next week.

Sissoko was left out of Spurs’ pre-season trip to the USA because of a virus. His future is likely to be sorted when the club returns to England.
