Marcus Edwards scored the winning goal as Tottenham’s Under-23s beat fierce rivals Arsenal in the Premier League 2 at Hotspur Way on Monday.

Shayon Harrison opened the scoring for Spurs in the tenth minute before Sam Shashoua made it 2-0 within 60 seconds.

Tyreece John-Jules and Charlie Gilmour struck back for Arsenal before half-time, but Edwards sealed the points from the penalty spot with half an hour to go.

As well as netting the winner, Edwards provided the assist for Harrison’s goal, yet again staking his claim for some first team action this season.

The 18-year-old apparently turned down loan moves in the summer, and more good performances will surely tempt Mauricio Pochettino to include the youngster in the future.

Edwards would provide decent cover in the attacking positions, but the returning Erik Lamela and even Georges-Kevin N’Koudou are ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.

The Spurs supporters will just have to trust Pochettino’s judgment on this one – he’ll only include Edwards when he’s absolutely ready.
