Pep Guardiola has praised Tottenham’s style of football in what some are perceiving as a sly dig aimed at Manchester United.
The Manchester City manager also cited Chelsea when asked about England’s best footballing sides.
“I think Tottenham are with Chelsea as the best team in wanting to play football,” Guardiola told reporters. (Quotes via The Independent.)
“They don’t expect their opponents [to force the play], they want to make their own game. It is another amazing test for us after games every three days.”
Manchester United are currently City’s closest title rivals, but Guardiola clearly doesn’t appreciate their style.
Spurs travel to the Etihad on Saturday aiming to move within 15 points of the league leaders.
