Clinton N’Jie insists he does not regret leaving Lyon to join Tottenham in the summer of 2015.

The 24-year-old joined Spurs for around £8 million but struggled to settle in England, making only eight appearances for the club before moving to Marseille on loan.

N’Jie eventually signed permanently for Marseille, who lost 2-0 to Lyon at the weekend in Ligue 1.

Despite the way things turned out, the Cameroon international told Lyon’s official website (spotted by Football365) that joining Tottenham was the right decision at the time.

“I don’t regret it. It’s a choice I needed to make,” he said. “The club was OK with it. Everyone thought it was a good solution.

“I acquired a lot of experience during that adventure at Tottenham. It really helped me afterwards, and it still does. Therefore, I have no regrets.”
