Tottenham are interested in signing FC Basel defender Manuel Akanji, according to reports in the player’s native Switzerland.
West Ham, Southampton and AS Roma are also said to be keen on Akanji, and Swiss publication Blick claims Borussia Dortmund have already made an offer of €15 million for the centre-back.
However, the report suggests Basel are holding out for €20 million if they are to sell the 22-year-old.
Spurs are apparently set to offer Toby Alderweireld a new contract, but if anything goes wrong they could move for another centre-back.
That said, I can’t see any new defenders arriving at the club this month.
