Southampton are interested in signing Erik Lamela from Tottenham, according to the Independent.
The Saints have emerged as contenders to sign the Argentine on deadline day.
However, Lamela’s former club Roma are also believed to hold an interest.
The Independent claims Tottenham would only sanction a loan move for Lamela, who has just 18 months left on his current contract.
Even with the arrival of Lucas Moura, I don’t think it would be wise to let Lamela go.
Spurs need as many quality squad players as possible as they continue to compete in three competitions.
