Erik Lamela will start for Tottenham against Swansea on Saturday with Harry Kane set to miss the FA Cup quarter-final through injury, according to the London Evening Standard.
Kane limped off in the first half of Spurs’ victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
He was replaced by Lamela, and Son Heung-Min was pushed into the central attacking role – the South Korean scored twice as Tottenham came from a goal down to win 4-1 at the Vitality Stadium.
The Evening Standard suggests Mauricio Pochettino will go for a similar set-up during Kane’s spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the seriousness of which is still unknown.
The news comes in the same report that claims Fernando Llorente will be made available for transfer at the end of the season.
The Spaniard was told to warm up when Kane felt his ankle on Sunday, but Lamela was the preferred option as a substitute in the end.
An alternative is January arrival Lucas Moura, who is still yet to make his first Premier League start for Spurs – I’m sure he’ll get his chance soon.
