Tottenham will attempt to strengthen in three positions this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.

Mauricio Pochettino will apparently aim to recruit a centre-back, a left-back and another attacker during the transfer window.

Spurs are faced with the possibility of losing Toby Alderweireld at the end of the season if a new contract isn’t agreed.

As a result, a new centre-back is likely to be on Pochettino’s shortlist. Ajax teenager Matthijs De Ligt has been linked, as have Premier League duo Alfie Mawson and Jonny Evans.

Danny Rose’s future remains uncertain, which is why a left-back could be a priority position. Ryan Sessegnon is a reported target, although the Fulham sensation has been playing further forward in recent months.

Tottenham have long been faced with the problem of providing cover and competition for Harry Kane up front.

Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen have struggled to make an impact over the last two seasons, so Spurs will likely target another striker this summer.

However, Heung-Min Son has proved his ability to fill in through the middle, so Pochettino may prefer to sign a more versatile attacker who can play in a number of positions.

  1. I would look to buy unsettled players from clubs like PSG, Real and Barca. Most of these players aren’t on massive wages and may be simply looking for first team football. E.g. Kurzawa, Draxler, Pastore, Isco, Ceballos, Alacer, Gomes, Rafinha etc. All proven quality and would add to the squad. These players would have been out of our league even two years ago but we’ve got more pulling power nowadays.
