Mauricio Pochettino has played down reports he is Real Madrid’s number one candidate to take over as manager of the La Liga giants.
Zinedine Zidane resigned from his post at the Bernabeu on Thursday after leading Madrid to a third successive Champions League title.
Reports claim Pochettino is being lined up as Zidane’s replacement, although talk of a release clause in the five-year contract he signed last month has been dismissed.
At a book launch event on Friday, Pochettino was asked if would consider taking the Madrid job – the Argentinian said he is very happy at Tottenham and is planning for next season, although he didn’t rule out a move to the Spanish capital in the future.
