Tottenham are set to enter talks with Manchester United over a deal for Anthony Martial, according to the Mail.

Mauricio Pochettino was handed a new five-year contract by Spurs last month and has apparently been promised increased transfer funds to overhaul his squad this summer.

The Argentinian’s power has likely increased after Real Madrid identified him as their first-choice candidate to replace Zinedine Zidane.

Madrid have now reportedly ended their interest in Pochettino, which means Tottenham should be able to get started with their summer business.

And Martial is believed to be among the club’s priority targets.

According to the Mail, Spurs officials are currently preparing for talks with Manchester United over a deal for the 22-year-old.

Including add-ons, United are said to have paid around £58 million for Martial, and the Mail believes they want to recoup as much of that fee as possible.

That means Tottenham may have to break their transfer record to sign the Frenchman.

Martial has not been included in France’s World Cup squad, so Spurs fans will be hoping a deal can be done quickly.
