Inter Milan could use defender Danilo D’Ambrosio to tempt Tottenham into lowering their asking price for Mousa Dembele, according to reports in Italy.

Dembele has just one year left on his contract and is expected to leave Spurs this summer after failing to agree terms on a new deal.

The Belgian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Italy – Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all said to hold an interest.

A possible move to China has also been mooted, but Serie A is said to be the most likely destination for Dembele at this stage.

And according to a report, Inter may have a plan to steal a march on their fellow suitors.

Italian outlet CalcioNews24 claims Inter will offer D’Ambrosio to Tottenham so that the Londoners lower their £26.5 million asking price for Dembele.

D’Ambrosio is a right-back, a position Spurs already have plenty of options in.

Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier fought for the role in 2017-18, while Kyle Walker-Peters could provide even more competition next term.

For that reason, I can’t see Mauricio Pochettino being interested in a deal for D’Ambrosio.
