Jack Grealish is expecting to complete his move from Aston Villa to Tottenham in the coming days, according to the London Evening Standard.

The midfielder emerged as a target for Spurs earlier this summer when Villa were struggling financially – the Londoners saw an opportunity to sign Grealish on the cheap and made their move.

Since then new investors have pumped additional funds into Villa, and it is believed the Championship club no longer need to cash in on Grealish.

However, the Standard claims the 22-year-old expects to join Tottenham by the Premier League’s August 9th transfer deadline.

Spurs will apparently make an opening offer of £20 million, which is likely to be rejected, but the top-flight club are said to be confident of completing a deal in the next seven days.

This has ‘deadline day’ written all over it. Like many Tottenham transfers, negotiations are likely to go to the wire.

Spurs fans will just be hopeful the club can get a deal done – they are yet to make a single signing in the current transfer window.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will apparently listen to offers for three first-team players before the deadline. Find out who they are here.

  1. This is such a boring story that people should totally ignore it until such time that something definite comes out of it.Either he signs or forget about it but please stop it from draging on.
