Tottenham could make a move for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly but will face competition from north London rivals Arsenal, according to the Mirror.

Bailly joined United from Villarreal in the summer of 2016 but injuries and form issues have seen him struggle to cement a place in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up.

A disastrous performance against Brighton last month saw the centre-back dropped to the bench, and he hasn’t started a game since.

As a result, the Mirror claims Bailly is now ready to leave Old Trafford, which has put Spurs and Arsenal on alert ahead of a possible January move.

At just 24, there is still plenty of time for Bailly to improve, and there is a good chance his struggles have been down to Mourinho’s infamously inconsistent man management skills.

A move might be exactly what Bailly needs, although the Mirror are likely speculating about his future simply because he hasn’t been starting recently.

It’s difficult to see Tottenham making an offer for him in January, but stranger things have happened.
