Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Tottenham’s ability to win games late on as the Londoners continue to make Manchester City and Liverpool sweat.

Spurs trail City by two points and Liverpool by four going into the Merseysiders’ trip to West Ham United on Monday night.

And despite Gary Neville’s comments suggesting otherwise, many believe Tottenham are genuine title contenders after a third successive victory against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Heung-min Son’s late goal secured the points for Spurs, who have won their last three games by scoring in the final few minutes.

City kept up the pressure on Liverpool by beating Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday. After the match, Guardiola commented on Tottenham’s impressive winning mentality.

“Tottenham are incredible,” Guardiola said (via the London Evening Standard). “Their mentality to fight and fight in the last minutes.”

Spurs still have to go to the Etihad and Anfield, while a difficult trip to Stamford Bridge is also just around the corner.

But with Harry Kane and Dele Alli set to return, and the likes of Son Heung-min in fine goalscoring form, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be confident of staying close to the top.
