Gareth Bale wants to play for Real Madrid for the rest of his career but will talk to Zinedine Zidane about his future at the club, according to the player’s agent.

Bale has been linked with a return to Tottenham in recent months, and those rumours re-emerged this week upon Zidane’s re-appointment at Madrid.

Last summer, there were suggestions Zidane was happy for Bale to leave the Bernabeu despite the fact he scored twice in the Champions League final, including an incredible overhead kick.

In the end it was Zidane who departed, but the Frenchman is now back in the Spanish capital to try and save Madrid’s dreadful season.

As a result, Bale is being linked with Spurs again. Both a loan move or a part-exchange deal including Christian Eriksen have been mooted, neither of which seem particularly realistic.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Bartlett, has now revealed the Welshman wants to stay at Madrid for the rest of his career but talks will be held with Zidane to see if that’s possible.

“He wants to play all his career for Real Madrid. If it doesn’t work out, we will talk again,” Bartlett told the BBC’s Football Daily podcast, as relayed by the Mirror.

“He is very happy. He will talk with Zinedine Zidane and we will go from there.

“If you let him play how he wants to play, and have a run of games, he can be right up there.”

It will be interesting to see the outcome of those talks, but a reunion between Bale and Tottenham remains doubtful.
