Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen over the weekend, according to reports in Italy.

The centre-back has been linked with a move to Spurs a number of times in recent months, usually in the Italian media.

And now, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sky Sports) claims Tottenham had Andersen watched during Sampdoria’s 2-0 victory over Genoa in Serie A on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who has made 31 league appearances for Sampdoria this season, helped his side keep a clean sheet over the weekend.

He is yet to make his senior debut for Denmark but could soon become an international teammate of Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

That might boost Spurs’ chances of luring Andersen to north London, if Eriksen sticks around in the summer transfer window.

Eriksen has just over a year remaining on his contract and has been linked with an exit, as has Toby Alderweireld, which could be the reason Tottenham are looking at new centre-backs.

At 22, Andersen is relatively inexperienced but all the signs are there to suggest he could develop into a Premier League defender.
