Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Porto starlet Diogo Queiros, according to reports in Portugal.

Queiros has been playing for Porto’s B team this season, making 24 league appearances, but is yet to play for the senior side.

Portuguese outlet Record claims the 20-year-old centre-back is wanted by Spurs and Ajax this summer.

However, it is believed both clubs aren’t willing to pay more than £12.9 million for Queiros, who has a release clause of £21.5 million in his current Porto contract.

Whether or not that suggests Tottenham are only interested in the defender if they can acquire him cheaply is up for debate.

If the Londoners are serious about signing Queiros they will surely be willing to match his release clause, which is relatively low in today’s market.

That said, the fact he is yet to make a senior appearance for Porto could mean Spurs and Ajax are put off by the fact his is untested.

Regardless, perhaps the winner of next week’s Champions League semi-final second leg will take the lead in the race for Queiros’ signature.
