Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out with a pair of European giants to sign Ajax star Hakim Ziyech, according to reports in the Netherlands.

Ziyech has been one of the standout players in Ajax’s incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals.

The 26-year-old provided the assist for Donny van de Beek’s goal against Spurs in the first leg last week.

And it is believed he is attracting interest from a number of big clubs across Europe.

As relayed by Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the Dutch media is apparently reporting that Spurs face competition for Ziyech’s signing from Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

Bayern will certainly pose a threat to Tottenham’s chance of winning the battle – the Germans are expected make several additions this summer and still have huge pulling power.

However, Spurs may be a more appealing project than Inter these days, so if it’s a two-horse race the Londoners may come out on top.

Mauricio Pochettino is also said to be keen on Van de Beek, but Ziyech would be a more suitable replacement for Christian Eriksen if the Dane departs.

  1. Would absolutely love Ziyech at Spurs, everyone was raving about Van De Beek but it was Ziyech whose awesome assist is what made that goal and he is the man behind everything good Ajax do. If we could also get Isco or James Rodriguez out of the Eriksen deal, then brilliant, although I would worry how both would handle injuries in the premier.
