Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports in Spain.

Gomes has impressed during his season-long loan at Everton and is said to be a long-term target of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Spanish outlet Sport claims Tottenham have already agreed personal terms with the Portugal international’s representatives ahead of a summer transfer.

It is believed Spurs will send an offer of around €30 million (approx. £26m) in the coming days in a bid to steal a march on other clubs who may be interested.

Everton have the option to purchase Gomes, but Sport reports the 25-year-old is keen to join Tottenham instead.

The Londoners are apparently waiting until their Champions League qualification is confirmed before getting in touch with Barcelona.

However, Everton boss Marco Silva has suggested Gomes is yet to make a decision about who he will play for next season.

“He didn’t decide anything about his future and his agent too. This is what I can say to you,” Silva told reporters, according to Team Talk.

Tottenham face Everton in the final game of the Premier League season on Sunday afternoon, and even a defeat to the Toffees could still result in a top four finish.

  1. After hearing Mo Po’s comments today I certainly think that it is now clear why he is talking about hanging it up at Spurs. There were many speculations that he just didn’t want to buy players the last 2 transfer windows, however I think now it is clear this was not the case. If he is not given a large amount of money to compete with the other top clubs in the transfer market he is going to walk. Daniel Levy I Implore you, I beg you to give this man whatever and whoever he asks for. Despite what happens on June 1st this is a team that has grown so much over the last 5 years. He has shown you what he could do while protecting your bottom line until this new multi million dollar investment into the greatest stadium in the world could be built, imagine what he could accomplish given the budget of Man City or even Arsenal for that matter. He has waited patiently and weathered it all amazingly. Now Daniel it is time for you to live up to your end and give the man what he needs to keep us where we belong. At the top, without him I fear we will do what Man United and Arsenal have done recently and regress big time. If that means paying 30 million pounds for this Gomes pay it and then whatever else he wants.
