Tottenham Hotspur will ask Juventus to pay around £22.5 million for Kieran Trippier, according to reports in Italy.
Trippier has been heavily linked with Napoli and Juventus in recent weeks amid doubts over his Spurs future.
Earlier this week, we relayed a story suggesting Manchester United are interested in Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj, which could prompt the Serie A club to make a move for Trippier.
But it is now believed Juventus are leading the race to sign Trippier as they attempt to replace Manchester City-bound Joao Cancelo.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia) claims Trippier is Juventus’ prime target and Spurs will demand around £22.5 million for the 28-year-old.
Trippier endured a difficult 2018/19, struggling for consistency at Tottenham and losing his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
With that in mind, it is perhaps surprising to learn of Juventus’ interest in the former Burnley defender.
Spurs could certainly do with the money as they look to raise funds for a host of summer signings, possibly including a new right-back.

Why on Earth would Trippier be sold anyway? And why for only £20 odd Mil?
Yes, we need another right back (because Aurier is hopeless, and KWP is not developing
the way we hoped), but we need Tripps as either the first or second choice in that
position! Sell Tripps and we’ve got no one!
We sold Walker without thinking through who’d be best to compete with Trippier, hence the Aurier fiasco.
And when Tripps went injured for quite a few games that season, we really missed him.
Would we really sell Tripps now? ..when we have no other near-world class right back in place?
And if we did sell him, and if he wanted to go (which he probably doesn’t), then surely the
fee would be more like £45 to £50m in this inflated market?! Not a giveaway at £25m!
Look. Trippier has had a poor season, but we know what he can do. He’s still a top
international player, and on his day he’s an excellent & experienced wing back / right back.
He’ll get back to his best this season, I’m sure, and even if he doesn’t, he’s still worth having as a
back up to whoever comes in to replace him (er, like we’ll find someone that quickly ..not!).
You don’t just ‘give away’ a highly experienced right back in his prime years, without knowing
you have an equally top right back, if not better, in place. And even then, Tripps would
be great cover for any new (very expensive) signing, as he once was for Walker.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Tell Juventus and the others to bugger off. And as for many of our fans who continually wish
Tripps out of our club, they clearly no nothing about football as such, let alone the intricacies of
getting the best players out there to come to Spurs, short of throwing so much money at
them and their clubs, that we’d bankrupt our club or end up being taken over by the Chelski and
Citeh types.
