Napoli have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Kieran Trippier, according to the Mirror.

Trippier has been heavily linked with a move to Italy in recent weeks, with both Napoli and Juventus said to be interested.

Indeed, the Mirror claims both clubs are hoping to sign the defender in the current transfer window and Spurs are thought to be willing to sell at the right price – £25 million is the fee being mooted.

Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has apparently entered talks with the Londoners in an attempt to beat Juventus to Trippier’s signature early.

Juventus are believed to be keen on the 28-year-old as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Joao Cancelo.

The Mirror also backs up other reports by suggesting Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Leeds United teenager Jack Clarke.

But if Trippier leaves, Mauricio Pochettino will suddenly be prioritising a move for a new right-back.

That said, Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters will still be available for the spot, but Spurs fans will be hoping for an upgrade in quality.
