Danny Rose may be used by Tottenham to agree a reduced fee for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, according to Sky Sports.

Spurs apparently first enquired about Dybala – who has been heavily linked with the club in recent days – earlier in the transfer window. At the time, the Londoners were locked in negotiations with Real Madrid over a deal for Christian Eriksen.

Madrid are said to be prioritising a move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, meaning Eriksen is now closer to staying at Tottenham than leaving. As a result, Sky Sports claim Dybala joining Spurs is currently unlikely as they will not have raised the sufficient funds by selling Eriksen.

However, Juventus are credited with an interest in Danny Rose. Sky’s report goes on to suggest that if the Italian champions complete a £25 million deal for the left-back, Tottenham may attempt to convince Juventus to sell Dybala for less than their £80m million asking price.

At present, Spurs would have to smash their transfer record for the second time this summer after the £60 million signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon. If Rose joins Juventus, though, there is a chance Tottenham will be able to sign Dybala for slightly less than that.
