Tottenham have opened talks with Sporting Lisbon about the possibility of bringing midfielder Bruno Fernandes to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

According to RTP, Spurs have sent two representatives to the Portuguese capital to try and seal a deal for the 24-year-old, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United this summer, but with Red Devils turning their attentions to Juventus man Paulo Dybala, the door has opened for Tottenham.

Fernandes scored 20 goals in Primeira Liga last term, adding 13 assists – and is one of the most highly rated players in Europe in his position.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to get going in the transfer market – with the signings of Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke, who has since moved back to Leeds United on loan, their only business.

But with a move for Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso looking a long way off, Spurs could be about to complete a major swoop for the Portuguese international, helped his side win the Nations League earlier this summer and was named in the Team of the Tournament.
