Tanguy Ndombele marked his Tottenham debut in the perfect way by scoring a spectacular goal to get his new side back in game on Saturday.
Trailing 1-0 to newly-promoted Aston Villa, the 22-year-old, who wasn’t having his best game by any stretch, received a pass from Lucas Moura and without hesitating, lashed a stunning side-footed effort that flew into the far corner, leaving England goalkeeper Tom Heaton with little chance.
Harry Kane’s late double that earned the three points, predictably earned him the plaudits, but it should take nothing away from Ndombele’s moment of magic, which has already set him on his way to repaying the £55m fee that Tottenham paid for him last month.
Remarkably, it was just his sixth goal in his professional career, but surely his best yet.
Take a look at the video that Spurs’ official Twitter account posted earlier this afternoon and listen to that roar from the 17,000 home fans celebrating in the White Wall when the Frenchman’s strike hit the back of the net.
