Newcastle United pulled off a surprise 1-0 win at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, but the game wasn’t without controversy.
Spurs put in their worst performance for some time yet will feel aggrieved about a penalty decision that didn’t go their way late in the second half.
Harry Kane appeared to be hauled down by a falling Jamaal Lascelles but referee Mike Dean was having none of it. However, instant replays suggested VAR would overturn the decision.
But no – Dean’s decision stood and Newcastle got away with one. Watch below.

Looked to me like the defender pretends to trip but then dives forward to stop the attacker. Not sure if VAR gives the sameviws but was a pen and a red card in my book.
