‘Arsenal is the perfect game for us’ – Tottenham winger on prospect of North London derby

Lucas Moura said that Arsenal are the perfect opponents for Tottenham to get their season back on track this weekend.

Spurs, who are without a win at Emirates Stadium since that remarkable 3-2 success – their only in the Premier League in 13 previous visits – when Harry Redknapp was charge back in November 2010, go into the North London derby below their bitter rivals after their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Only three points would be enough for Tottenham to leapfrog Unai Emery’s side, but Spurs did win here on their last visit here in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, a game that Moura started and played the opening 58 minutes before he was replaced by Harry Kane.

And despite just 12 victories in 54 Premier League meetings between the sides, Tottenham’s flying Brazilian winger, who netted the equaliser in last weekends 2-2 draw with champions Manchester City, is confident his side can register a victory despite their poor start to the campaign.

“Is this the perfect game for us to have after the Newcastle defeat? Yes. We need to look forward now. There are a lot of hard games to come”, Moura told the Evening Standard.

“We lost against Newcastle but I am sure we have the quality to go to Arsenal and come back with three points. That’s what we must try to do.

“Each game is different. This is a new season and we have new players. I think we are stronger now (than in previous years). I am sure we can go anywhere and win games.

“For sure it was a very bad result against Newcastle. We tried but it was very difficult to play against them, especially as they kept everyone behind the ball after they scored.

“It was difficult to find the space in the air and the ground because everyone was in the box. I missed a very clear opportunity and I am upset about this. We need to get back to work this week and win the next game against Arsenal.”
