Tottenham will travel to League Two side Colchester United in the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup.

The draw took place after the conclusion of Everton’s 4-2 victory at Lincoln City and Spurs were paired with John McGreal’s side, who caused a major shock in the 2nd Round after they knocked out Crystal Palace on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes, to reach this stage for the first time since 2004/2005.

It’s a first meeting between the sides that are separated by just 61-miles since they clashed in the 4th Round of the 2015/2016 FA Cup. Spurs ran out comfortable winners that day thanks to a brace from Nacer Chadli and second-half goals from Eric Dier and Tom Carroll and Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking for another routine victory to hopefully set them on their way to ending their 12-year wait for a major trophy.

The game, that will be played in the week commencing 23 September, could give the likes of Troy Parrott an opportunity to make his senior Tottenham debut, whilst offer valuable minutes to the likes of Dier, Ben Davies, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, if the former Fulham man has recovered from a hamstring injury by then.
