Christian Eriksen admitted he is happy to still be a Tottenham player – but wants to move on from the transfer rumours.

The 27-year-old, who is currently on international duty with Denmark, planning for their Euro 2020 against Gibraltar on Friday, has entered the final year of his Spurs contract and is now available to leave the club on a free transfer – with his current deal expiring in June.

Eriksen was the subject of reported interest from both Real Madrid and Juventus, but neither ending up making a move, meaning the former Ajax man ended up staying at Spurs after the European transfer window officially closed last night.

Danish journalist Andreas Kraul spoke to the midfielder in Marbella as Eriksen and Denmark prepare for Friday’s game – and the midfielder is happy to stay with the North London out, despite saying earlier this summer that he wanted a new challenge, but didn’t want to discuss his ongoing transfer saga.

Translated to English, it says – “Christian Eriksen met at the national team training camp in Marbella. Still a Tottenham player. He doesn’t want to talk about the summer transfer saga, but says he is looking forward to getting away from all the rumors and is happy to still be at the club.”

  1. Cut the bullshit Eriksen; if you are happy to stay at the club, then sign the new contract offered you- at least sit down and talk.

  2. “Happy” because he can see out he final year and follow Aaron Ramsay’s example. I hope Poch is synched up with Levy in actively working on getting Eriksen out while integrating Lo Celso.
