Troy Parrott will make his Tottenham debut in their 3rd Carabao Cup tie against League Two side Colchester United tonight.

The 17-year-old, who has been in the spotlight since impressing on Spurs’ pre-season tour of the Far East in July, has been the 19th man on a number of occasions for the first-team this season, but is yet to be named in a matchday squad.

But now Parrott, who has already scored three goals for Tottenham’s Under-23s this season, including the opener against Olympiacos last Wednesday, has been given his opportunity against the U’s, with first-choice striker Harry Kane given a well-earned rest starting eight games for club and country since the beginning of the campaign.

Elsewhere, 20-year-old Japhet Tanganga is also handed his Tottenham debut and partners the returning Davinson Sanchez at the heart of defence.

Kyle Walker-Peters returns from a hamstring injury, whilst Eric Dier makes his first appearance since the draw with Everton on the final day of last season as Mauricio Pochettino makes ten changes to the side that were beaten at Leicester City on Saturday.

This is the Tottenham team to play Colchester: Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies, Dier, Skipp, Wanyama, Alli, Moura, Parrott.

Subs: Lloris, Foyth, Vertonghen, Sissoko, Eriksen, Lamela, Son.
