Tottenham have offered a new contract to 20-year-old Japhet Tanganga, according to Football Insider.

Tanganga, who was in Belgrade last night with the first-team for their Champions League victory over Red Star, although he wasn’t in the matchday squad, has less than 12 months left on his current deal and would be available to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

The defender has made just one senior appearance for Spurs – in their 3rd Round Carabao Cup defeat at Colchester United – but with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both likely to leave the club at the end of the season, the Lilywhites are keen to tie the young defender to new terms.

Tanganga initially caught the eye on Spurs’ pre-season tours of the Far East and then the Audi Cup in Germany, but his first-team opportunities have been limited and that League Cup outing remains his only in a Tottenham shirt to date.
