Inter Milan are reportedly interesting in signing Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The Serie A giants, who recently signed Christian Eriksen in January, are looking to snap-up the 32-year-old Belgian, whose current contract expires at the end of this season.

Vertonghen has recently lost his place to Davinson Sanchez in the heart of the Tottenham defence – starting only three of the previous six Premier League games – although the experienced-defender did return to the side and play 90 minutes for Spurs in their 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday.

Head Coach Jose Mourinho recently admitted that he wants Vertonghen to join his Belgium colleague Toby Alderweireld in signing a new contract, but the two parties are yet to agree a new deal.

If Vertonghen doesn’t end up signing fresh terms, he’ll be available on a free transfer, but the Standard are reporting that Spurs would be against the defender leaving for nothing.
